At Stratiteq, we believe that any business can become data-driven. We help our clients with challenges they face with emerging technologies and big data.

The event "Enter the future with data-driven possibilities and automated monitoring" took place the September 18th, at Lokstallarna in Malmö. We organised the event in this historic place due to its traditional industrial atmosphere. Walso choose this place since we could ensure plenty of space between the participants. At the event we informed everyone attending about the possibilities with data-driven and we also presented a live demo scenario that we had created which included a cloud connected self-driving vehicle.

SQ Event-1

In the first part of the event Stefan Hult, Kasem Chahrour and I spoke about what it takes to build a data-driven organisation what the reasons are to become data-driven, how to create a data-driven culture, how to move towards a data-centric architecture, and which challenges companies face with emerging technologies and big data.

For thsecond part of the event, we made simulation of a smart warehouse. The idea behind it was to showcase how fully automated warehouse works, where normally no staff is on site. Service and incidents are imagined to be managed by an external provider that monitors the warehouse and dispatches technicians as needed. In our setup we were using four display stations with three screens each:

  •  The presenter & Dynamics 365
  •  Live data of the vehicle status
  •  Power BI dashboard with historical data

Our warehouse had a self-driving vehicle equipped with different sensors like temperature, humidity and other types of sensors. These are connected to the Dynamics 365 services Azure IoT Central anConnected Field ServiceThe vehicle monitoring is made possible via custom developed dashboard, and a Power BI dashboard which provides interactive reports for different time periods.

SQ Events

In the first scenario, we demonstrated how temperature increase is detected by the self-driving vehicle. Once the temperature goes over a specific predefined threshold, service case is created in Dynamics 365 and a text message and email is sent to a service dispatcher. The technician arrives on the site, resolves the issue and the client gets notified about the resolution.

In the second scenario, an image was taken by the onboard camera on the self-driving vehicleanafter having been analysed with Azure Custom Vision, leakage was detected and an alert was once again sent to the service dispatcher. We also sent an error report and an image of the detected leakage to all the participants to also involve them in the scenario.

Feel free to check out the short teaser video we made where you can see what the setup looked like at Lokstallarna.

We decided to use the warehouse environment for our scenario since it is easy to imagine this setup. Warehouses are not the only environments that use IoT sensors, this concept can be applied in many other different environments. With the use of Dynamics 365 Field Service you can deliver exceptional customer experiences and dispatch the right resource at the right time to the right place.

If you would like to experience this scenario hands-on, we have created a simulation area at Stratiteq that includes the smart warehouse and the self-driving vehicle. Please reach out to us if you would like to take it for a test-drive.

Thanks for reading, follow us to be notified about more events like this that we'll organise in the future!
